We got the inspiration for our classroom from Galatians 5: 22-23. “But the fruit of the Spirit is LOVE, JOY, PEACE, PATIENCE, KINDNESS, GOODNESS, FAITHFUL- NESS, GENTLENESS, and SELF-CONTROL.” So, it may look like we just stepped out of 1970 with our tie-dyed shirts and funky flower decorations, but we are already well into the 2008-2009 school year and it’s awe- some. We have some “hip” activities coming up like trips to the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum’s Apple House and the Minnesota History Center in St. Paul. We plan to do our traditional Gedney pickle factory tour in the spring, and we have lots of guests that are scheduled to come into the classroom throughout the year. Some other “far out” projects this year include an extra em- phasis on keeping our planet healthy. We will spend time learning about ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle in our classroom and at home. We may be “going green” in our class, but we are also going red, blue, purple, orange and more as we fill our lives with the many colors throughout God’s creation. We will praise the Lord through our art- work, writing, reading, experiments (we did just get a new Science curriculum), singing, and much more. So come jump in our second grade Jalopy and tour with us. You can visit us on the St. John’s website anytime to see our latest and greatest gigs. Peace, Love, and many blessings to you from Second Grade. |
